Smart IBL

Found something interesting about HDRI:

http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/index.html

I have never seen it before, but it looks very interesting.
So I wonder whether abvent has dealt with it and if Artlantis will eventually support that in future.

Hello Werner,

Thanks for your input, but Artlantis is already doing the same process automatically.
You just have to position the sun manually if necessary.

Best regards,

Hello Camille,

Thanks for your quick reply!

In addition a short question:
Is there any way to control the position of the Sun, the optical shift is sometimes difficult to control.
For instance:
The sun is standing directly in front of the camera.
If I want the sun right behind the camera, I have to rotate the HDRI 180 degrees.
What value do I have to enter at delta x?

The way I do that is manually:

1 - record/write down the position of the camera and the target location coordinates
2 - position the sun where it needs to be
3 - get the camera to face onto the sun
4 - add the hdri background and line up its sun to face the camera
5 - go back to previous desired camera location and target location coordinates (in step 1)

Hope this helps

Tariq

P.S. Would be great if there was an option to get an hdri to line up automatically with Artlantis' sun coordinates!

Thank you Tariq for your tip.
It's a good way of doing it.

I'm not sure if it would be possible to " get an hdri to line up automatically with Artlantis' sun coordinates! "
Plus doing it in an easy way...

Also you would need to see the sun in the HDRI which is not always the case !

I will ask our rendering experts !

Thanks Tariq, that works!

The easiest way would be a 360 degree scale for delta x, because everyone can imagine something like that.

Thanks Camille/Werner! Yes, a better way to get an hdri to properly line up would be most welcome!
